Navigating Grief After Homicide
A support group for loved ones of homicide victims.
Meets on the third Tuesday of each month

Freida has both participated and led NCVAN groups since the loss of her son, Stephen, in 2012 to gun violence followed by the loss of her son, Michael, to fentanyl in 2016.
Freida is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern and has worked for the last 11 years assisting others with grief as a result of complicated grief associated with homicide and substance use disorders.
This group is open to adults 18 years of age** or older who live in North Carolina and have had a loved one taken by homicide. They are open to victim/survivors no matter how recent or how long ago the homicide occurred.
Registration is required, and space is limited to allow for adequate sharing among participants.
When you register, we will provide further information about these online meetings and instructions on how to join by video through a computer or smartphone.

Our online support group meetings are held using a simple, secure, and user-friendly online tool. These virtual gatherings provide an opportunity for loved ones of homicide victims to connect with other victims/survivors and to give and receive support from each other. Support from others who have had a loved one taken by violence is often crucial to surviving – and eventually experiencing some sense of healing and recovery. Facilitators aid the process of mutual support and provide information relevant to grieving after the homicide of a loved one and navigating the legal process.
We are committed to preserving the privacy and security of all victim/survivors. Therefore, for online meetings, we use the most secure and private, HIPAA-Compliant version of Zoom. This means that we use Zoom's version with the safeguards and privacy protections required, even of medical professionals. That’s how important it is to us to protect the privacy and security of us all.
