1. ¿Qué es la NCVAN?
La Red de Asistencia Para Víctimas es una organización sin fines de lucro que trabaja para servir a víctimas de crimen alrededor de Carolina del Norte. Hemos empezado un esfuerzo para alcanzar a víctimas de crimen en las poblaciones hispano-parlantes en el estado.
2. ¿Cuál es el propósito de este estudio?
Para poder servir las víctimas de crímenes en las poblaciones latinas más eficazmente, necesitamos oír de ellas con respeto a cuáles son sus necesidades y qué están enfrentando. Por medio de aprender de las experiencias que enfrentan, esperamos poder ayudar a más víctimas de crimen en la comunidad latina.
3. ¿Qué tipo de preguntas me va a hacer?
Se le harán preguntas generales sobre sus antecedentes (por ejemplo, edad, sexo, origen étnico, empleo); sus perspectivas de las autoridades, las agencias de justicia penal, seguridad y si ha sido víctima de crímenes generales. No le pediremos exponer los detalles de dicho crimen. No le pediremos su nombre, dirección, ni otra forma de información que le puede identificar.
4. ¿Qué recibiré por participar en esta encuesta?
Esta es su oportunidad de comunicar sus actitudes, opiniones y creencias relacionadas a las autoridades y agencias de justicia penal en Carolina del Norte. Además, por participar, va a asistir las víctimas de crimen en la comunidad hispana en Carolina del Norte.
5. No he sido víctima de crimen, ¿es necesario que participe?
Para asegurar que nuestros datos no tengan ninguna parcialidad, queremos hablar con ambos los individuos en la comunidad hispana que han sido y que no han sido víctima de crimen. Si habláramos solo con las personas que han enfrentado el crimen, nuestro estudio no representaría la población hispanohablante en el estado verdaderamente. 1. What is the NCVAN?
The North Carolina Victim Assistance Network is a nonprofit organization based in Raleigh that works to serve victims of crime across the state of North Carolina. We have recently begun an outreach project to assist victims of crimes in the Spanish-speaking populations in the state.
2. What is the purpose of this research?
In order to effectively serve victims of crimes in the Hispanic/Latino populations, we need to hear from them regarding what their needs are and what they’re facing. By learning about the experiences that they face, we hope to be able to help more Spanish-speaking victims of crime in the state.
3. What types of questions will you be asking?
We’ll ask you general questions about your perceptions of law enforcement, criminal justice agencies and safety, and whether or not you have been a victim of general crimes. We will not ask you to go into details about having been a victim of crime. We will not ask for you name, address or any personal information that could ever identify you.
4. What will I get out of this?
This is your opportunity to share your opinions about and experiences with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in North Carolina. Also, by taking part in this, you will be assisting Spanish-speaking crime victims in the state of North Carolina.
5. I’m not a victim of crime, why should I participate?
In order to make sure that our information is not biased, we want to hear from people in the Hispanic/Latino population that have and that have not encountered crime. If we only heard from those who have been victims, our information would be far less representative of the Spanish-speaking populations in the state. By including your input, we can make more balanced projects about how to best assist victims of crime within the Hispanic/Latino community.

It should take about 15 – 20 minutes depending on your responses.
